This is a gem of a cheap Brighton tip, for under a fiver you get as much as you can eat Indian food!
The food is more like Indian home cooking than the standard UK Indian restaurant fayre (that’s a good thing) and its vegetarian although there is a similar (slightly more expensive) establishment round the corner on North Street that serves meat.
The restaurant itself is a strange mix of Indian and Spanish, it looks like minimum effort was made to convert it after they moved in many years ago. Still there is a nice enough ambiance and this place is all about huge quantities of tasty food for very little money.
Bombay Aloo is on Ship Street and is heartily recommended for cheap Brighton nosh!
This is yet another way to manage cheap Brighton living! Sussex menu provide a discount card that will get you 10 to 20 percent off or 2 dishes for the price of one on an impressive list of Brighton and Hove restaurants. You apply for a card for £25 a year here. Good if you are staying in town for a while! Read more »
China China is a very popular and cheap Brighton Chinese restaurant with a good and varied menu. Expect to pay £6 to £7 for a main course, a great selection of dishes. Particularly recommended are the duck pancakes and dim sum.
The place is normally buzzing, the atmosphere is very informal and you will find a good mix of tourists, students, locals and members of the Chinese community. This is not a place for a candle lit meal, it is crowded and consequently, a lazy afternoon supping green tea will not be encouraged by the staff.
Service is quick and polite. China China being so close to my house means I visit far too regularly!
