There are many internet cafes around town, but if you have your own laptop, there are also plenty of free wireless internet locations, mostly in pubs and bars. My favorite places are The Atlas Lounge on Western Road which has some very comfy chairs and The Farm pub on Farm road in Hove, which is run by a web developer and has a 16MB connection!
Another great place to get free WiFi is the beach, most of the beach is connected thanks to an organisation called loose connection who set up one of the first free wireless access networks in the country.
UPDATE: There is a great map of free wireless spots on this site!
The Greyhound Track in Hove will give you a real taste of British culture. A night out at the dogs will consist of food drink, a flutter and a load of fun. They have a couple of bargains for you, Wednesday and Sunday afternoon are free but to top that is their six pack offer, which includes admission and racecard, a meal, 2 drinks, 1 free jackpot bet and re-admission for one for just £10 Tues and Thurs and £12 on Saturday!
The stadium has both a restaurant, bar and fast food outlet and all is very well priced making this an ideal cheap Brighton outing.
Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium is located in Nevil Road Hove

This has to be the strangest museum in the South on England, and thanks to it being free, it gets a mention in Cheap Brighton.
The Booth Museum was set up in the days when shooting wild animals was a great way to further our understanding of nature. The place is full of spooky tableux of stuffed birds and a collection of skeletons and dinosaur bones, it is very creepy. The smell of the place reminds me of an old school gym, it is an odd place. I am not recommending this musem for it’s collection on a scientific basis, more for it’s curiosity value, nowhere else I have been is quite like it!
